Ingredients: |
Porridge oats |
|
|
Salt |
|
|
Water |
|
|
Milk and sugar to serve. |
Note: Traditionally in Scotland porridge is made
with water and eaten with salt and milk!
What you do:
1.
Measure the water and
porridge oats into the pan – 3 mugs of water and 3 large heaped spoonfuls of
porridge oats, and a pinch of salt.
2.
Place the pan on the
heat and bring to the boil (bubbles rise rapidly to the surface) stirring all
the time. Stir in a figure of 8 pattern to cover all of the bottom of the pan
so that the mixture doesn’t stick. Make sure that you stir into the corners of
the pan!
3.
When the mixture has
come to the boil turn down the heat and simmer (just the odd bubble rises to
the surface) until thick.
4.
Serve the porridge with
milk and sugar to taste.
